Who writes this?

Two of us, both long-time Calgary residents. We don't take money from hotels or tour companies and there are no affiliate links, which is the whole point.

Is this an official tourism site?

No, and that's deliberate. It's a personal guide — opinions, favourites and the odd 'don't bother', which an official site can't really say.

When's the best time to visit?

Depends what you want. Summer for the festivals and long evenings, winter for the mountains an hour away. Shoulder seasons are quiet and cheap but can swing wildly in weather.

Do I need a car?

For the city, not really — the core and the river paths are walkable and the train is fine. For the mountains and day trips, yes, a car changes everything.

Can you plan my whole trip?

We won't build an itinerary from scratch, but ask a specific question and you'll get a real answer. The site's day-trip and neighbourhood pages do a lot of the heavy lifting.
