Who is responsible

Calgary Play & Stay publishes this site and decides what happens to any personal information collected through it. Questions, access requests and complaints go to privacy@calgaryplaystay.com.

The law this follows

This notice is written to be consistent with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and with Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). Both rest on the same principles: collect only what is needed, say why before you collect it, use it only for that purpose, keep it secure, keep it no longer than necessary, and let people see and correct what is held about them.

What is collected

• What you type into the contact form: your name, your email address, the topic you select, the page reference if you give one, and your message.
• Technical details attached to that submission: the date and time, the IP address the request came from, the two-letter country code the network reports, and the browser user-agent string. These are recorded to detect automated abuse of the form.
• A hidden anti-spam field. If it is filled in, the submission is discarded and nothing is stored at all.

Nothing else. There is no analytics package on this site, no advertising technology, no third-party scripts, no embedded fonts, no social widgets and no tracking pixels. No cookies are set by these pages. Reading the site anonymously is the default and requires no action from you.

Why it is collected, and the legal basis

Form data is collected for one purpose: to read your message and reply to it. Consent is given by choosing to send the form; you are told before you send it what is collected and why. The technical details exist to keep the form usable rather than to profile you.

Who sees it

The editors of this guide. Submissions are stored in the key-value storage of the hosting platform that serves this site, which acts as a processor and does not use the content for its own purposes. Nothing is sold, rented, traded or shared with any venue, advertiser, marketing service or data broker. If you write about a specific property, your message is not forwarded to that property.

Where it is stored, and for how long

The hosting platform operates a global network, so a submission may be processed or stored outside Alberta and outside Canada and may be subject to the laws of the country where it is held. Stored submissions expire automatically one year after they are received. Correspondence that turns into a published correction is kept only as an editorial note, without your contact details.

Your rights

You may ask what personal information is held about you, ask for it to be corrected if it is wrong, ask for it to be deleted, or withdraw your consent. Write to privacy@calgaryplaystay.com and include enough detail to find the message — the approximate date and the email address you used. Requests are answered within thirty days. There is no charge.

If you are not satisfied

You may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or, because this site is published from Alberta, to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta. Complaining costs nothing and does not require a lawyer.

Children

This site describes venues that are restricted to adults aged 18 and over in Alberta. It is not directed at children and no information is knowingly collected from them. If you believe a child has sent a message through the form, write to the address above and it will be deleted.

Changes

If this notice changes, the review date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes will be described in plain language rather than buried.
