Grey Eagle Resort & Casino

A hotel, a large gaming floor, a 2,500-seat hall and a restaurant with a point of view, all on one site on Tsuut'ina Nation land immediately west of Calgary. Owned and operated by the Nation itself.

Where it is, and whose land it is on

Grey Eagle stands at 37 Street SW and Glenmore Trail, on Tsuut'ina Nation land just outside the City of Calgary's boundaries. Almost every listing you will read gives the address as Calgary, and in practical terms — drive time, area code, which airport you fly into — that is fair enough. It is still not accurate. The Nation's own contact page gives the location as “Tsuut'ina, Alberta”, and this guide follows the venue's own wording. The street number and postal code are consistent everywhere; only the municipality is argued over.

The ownership is not incidental branding. The property is owned and operated by the Tsuut'ina Nation, and the venue's own footer names Tsuu T'ina Hospitality Ltd. That shows up in the restaurant more than anywhere else.

The gaming floor

The floor covers 84,000 square feet, which makes it the largest single gaming room described on this site. The property's current casino page states 975 or more slot machines and 32 table games, with separate high-limit rooms and bingo. Hours are split: slot machines run 24 hours a day, table games open at 10:00 and close at 03:00, and craps starts later still, at 11:00.

One clarification, because older pages get quoted a great deal. An archived version of the venue's website advertised a round-the-clock poker room and a different set of numbers. The current casino page does not list a dedicated poker room; it names Ultimate Texas Hold'em among the table games. This guide therefore does not claim a poker room here. If poker is the reason for the trip, phone the casino line before you drive out.

Eating on site

Six outlets are listed: Little Chief, Buffet, Blaze Bar & Grill, Stage Bar, Eagle Bar and Grab N' Go. Little Chief is the property's signature room, serving modern cuisine grounded in Indigenous tradition, and it is the single strongest argument for eating here rather than driving back into the city; the same kitchen runs Little Chief Catering for events on the property.

Closed at the time of writing — check before you book

Two things were out of service when this page was researched, both connected to renovation work on the property. The swimming pool was closed, with hotel guests offered complimentary access to the City of Calgary's Killarney and Glenmore pools instead. The Blaze Bar & Grill was also closed for renovations. Neither is described here as a permanent change and neither reopening date was published. If either matters to your stay, ask the hotel when you call: 403-719-8777 or 1-844-719-8777.

The hotel

Travel-trade listings put the hotel at 178 rooms, opened in 2014, with Standard King, Premier King, Standard Two Queen and King Suite among the room types. The 178 figure is consistent across those listings but is not published on the property's own pages, so treat it as a reliable ballpark rather than a guaranteed count.

Guest facilities are unusually specific for a casino hotel. There is a fitness centre open 24 hours, an outdoor hot tub and sauna, a firepit with s'mores service, board games, a business centre, and a shuttle to selected locations. Hotel guests can borrow mountain bikes and trail maps free of charge, and the maps are the useful half of that pairing. Parking is free and secure, which quietly saves you the downtown Calgary rate in Canadian dollars every night of the stay.

Meetings, events and the concert hall

The Grey Eagle Event Centre seats about 2,500 theatre-style, and runs an L-Acoustics K2 and K3i concert sound system. One listing service puts capacity at 3,000 general admission and 2,511 for a seated show, which is the sort of spread you would expect between standing and seated configurations. Beyond the hall there is over 32,000 square feet of event space with eight convertible meeting rooms, handling groups from two people to three thousand. The box office number is 403-385-3747. Bookings are made with the hotel, not with this guide. There is no form on this site that reserves anything. The casino line is 403-385-3777 and the Event Centre box office is 403-385-3747. Rates, packages and cancellation terms are the property's to set and publish, and are quoted in Canadian dollars.

The venue cites a 2026 Booking.com Traveler Review Award and a 2025 TripAdvisor Travelers' Choice Award. Those are the venue's own claims, repeated here as such.
